Hi, I’m David Hart. My wife, Odalys, and I are the founders of Family Martial Arts.

We have been Martial Arts students since we were
7 & 9 years old and have been teaching since we were teenagers. So we truly understand the impact that Martial Arts can have on a child.

I remember I was in 2nd grade and just beginning my karate journey. My instructors always encouraged finding new ways to improve my confidence. There was a new confidence building opportunity with my school's Spelling Bee. I was nervous and didn't want to participate, but the school sent home the papers anyway.

I remember my mom practicing with me because she didn't want me to feel self-conscious & give up. So when I won 1st place in my class, I was so excited!

As I was feeling terrible and beating myself up about the silly mistake, my mom ran up to me and told me how proud she was of me and that I succeeded. I was so confused at first...

She reminded me what I learned in Karate...

I could have gotten nervous and ran off stage but I had the confidence to stand and try. 

After that I remember being excited to try again next year.
